On August 4, 2023, MRF held a senior management strategy meeting " Lifting the Fog, Riding the Wind" in Grand Hyatt Hotel, Luohu District, Shenzhen. Heads of all departments and key members attended the meeting, and invited Management Trainer Mr. Zhang Wenjie, Ms. Yang Yuqing from Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business (CKGSB), Mr. Zhao Hongliang, Chairman of Litong Group, Mr. Li Bo, Chairman of Guangdong Wcan Electromagnetic Material Co. Ltd, Mr. Xu Rongyuan, Partner of Beijing Guantao Law Firm, and Mr. Zhang Yiyu, Chairman of LINKTRANS, gave guidance and sharing.

In this meeting, each department made in-depth exchanges on the pain points of the current industry development, and the crisis and opportunities faced by MRF, and formulated strategies to cope with the development of pain points, as well as the development plan for the second half of 2023 and the next three years, to clarify the direction of the MRF’s development, and to unify the strategic deployment.

The meeting was chaired by Kalyan, Deputy General Manager, in which the heads of each department cross-reported on the work of other departments in the first half of 2023 and made suggestions for development and management of these departments. This was a new reporting format, and everyone was full of interest in the achievements or difficulties.

Mr. Zhang Wenjie, the guest of honor and management trainer, shared the "PEGY Formula", "Innovation is a habit that needs to be practiced deliberately", the management should do a good job in uploading and downloading, mastering the communication method of guiding and inquiring, paying attention to the observation of members' feelings and ideas, and stimulating their potentials.

Ms. Yang from Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business (CKGSB) shared the school's motto, "Taking the trend and understanding the way", emphasizing that we should follow the trend. Also, we should grasp the increment to find the target, and we should be good at understanding the direction of the main development and clear the future goal.

Mr. Zhao Hongliang, Chairman of Litong Group, proposed that the long-term habit that plays a good role in promoting the development of the enterprise is to insist on writing work logs, including the need to clarify the objectives, be clear about its core competitiveness; clarify the core products, actively research and development and promote these core products, and transform into a multi-dimensional marketing model; "first to see, first to think, first to do", "keep up with the times, stop at the right time", control the desire, do not go against the conscience, do serious work, and behave honestly; to move towards internationalization, and bring the company's brand out; to learn how to benchmark, and always learn from industry giants; to optimize the staffing, and to achieve the checks and balances between members; and to promote the partnership, and to provide platforms for the outstanding people.

Mr. Zhang Yiyu, Chairman of LINKTRANS, suggested that IT informatization, such as AI and ChatGPT, will disrupt the existing labor-intensive enterprises.

Mr. Li Bo, Chairman of Guangdong Wcan Electromagnetic Material Co. Ltd believes that entrepreneurs need to think about how to maintain the competitiveness of the enterprise over and over again, and if they can remain diligent, reflective, and good at adjusting their own state, good luck will come one day.

Mr. Xu Rongyuan shared his views on how ChatGPT affects the freight forwarding industry. For the traditional industry, Mr. Xu believes that there is no need to be too aggressive and proposes a "slow half beat" strategy.

1. Successful entrepreneurs have the following elements: a certain level of thinking; willingness to help, with excellent altruistic qualities; good reflection, less complaining and not blaming; and the ability to learn and transform.

2. As a traditional industry, MRF faces many pain points: fierce competition and serious involution; managers and grass-roots employees are eager for overnight success, which easily leads to the situation of talent impatience and management disorganization; profit-seeking mindset and lying flat; creativity and motivation decline once a certain amount of material rewards are obtained; and the problem of trust, crisis and sense of security.

3. MRF's core competence lies in its differentiated operations and sales model. From the very beginning of the company, we have developed a specialized sales model based on the specific culture and mindset of each country, and this differentiation means that the company's personnel structure is also customized.

4. Digital transformation is an important part of improving management efficiency. Although the initial attempt may fail, MRF still considers it as the first step towards success.

5. MRF will restructure its shareholding and implement a new form of chain system.

6. Emphasis is placed on the use of the OKR management model for each manager to deeply understand and apply. OKR is a management model suitable for young people and teams, and can stimulate the passion and sense of responsibility of team members to complete the key jobs.

7. Progressively disclose transparent salary structure to enable everyone to realize their self-worth. At the same time, the promotion of corporate culture will be strengthened and an environment of mutual respect will be established, allowing everyone to raise issues, provide feedback and solve problems.

Through digitalization, advanced management mode and communication mode, it attracts the power of the young generation and thinks about the needs of the new generation for the management mode, work team and the ecological environment of the logistics industry. 2. The external environment is less favorable. For MRF, on the one hand, we should continue to give full play to our strong business development ability, and capture and create advantages in unfavorable situations; on the other hand, it is still important to let management and training increase efficiency;

3. The existing "achievements and breakthroughs" are hard-earned. Facing the pressure of downward trend of foreign trade economy and forwarding industry as a whole, relying on the positive response of the whole enterprise, we have maintained the growth in the number of customers, the growth in cargo loading, the growth in the relationship with shipowners and the growth in the number of employees, which reflects the new quality and pattern of MRF’s development.

4. See and seize the favorable opportunities in the overall situation. At last year's management meeting, we proposed to realize the goal of "TWO 100s", and this year we have caught up with the best policy situation in the history of China's private enterprises. From the industry point of view, we have to catch up and surpass the giants and peers, to achieve a firm direction, proper strategy and tactics, the more we fight, the more courageous and the stronger we are.

5. Development is not a straight path but the trend is certain. In the face of the intricate world economic situation, in the face of cyclical contradictions intertwined and superimposed, the development of the industry will not be a straight road. However, from a comprehensive, dialectical, and long-term view of the future of MRF, its positive trend is certain. This certainty comes from MRF's high-quality strategic considerations, from MRF's decision-making and deployment of the implementation of the results.

The first half of the year 2023 passed by in a hurry, and the busy and fulfilling work also came to an end. In order to celebrate the fruitful results of the previous period and to play the new music of the next period, MRF held a mid-year dinner party of "Fascinating State of Mind, Sailing into the Future" to raise a glass of wine and have a good chat with the leaders and guests and management of each department who came from afar.

Through this meeting, members deepened their understanding of the current market situation and industry development issues, and promoted cross-departmental exchanges and cooperation. At the same time, it encourages morale and cohesion, so that we can relax physically and mentally and get ready for the future work with a fuller spirit.
